Zinc Media has launched the group’s first self-financed podcast – Tony Robinson’s Cunningcast.
The much-loved actor, famous for playing the hapless Baldrick with his series of cunning plans in four series of comedy classic Blackadder, is given free-reign to cover topics from knighthoods to pies and cancer to the coronation in his uniquely mischievous, indomitable and witty style.
To be published weekly from today (Thursday, March 23) on all major podcast platforms, the launch of Cunningcast is part of Zinc Media’s continued expansion in the audio space, building on an investment in production facilities and creative talent and adding to its proud history of audio successes.
Tony Robinson’s Cunningcast series producer, Melissa FitzGerald was recently appointed to the role of head of podcast production at the group, with Ahmad El-Darsh joining the team as creative head. Both report to Dominic de Terville, director of branded content who now also leads the company’s audio division.
He commented: “With Tony’s huge appeal and the popularity of history and culture amongst podcast listeners, Cunningcast is the perfect project for our first ad-supported production. It further diversifies Zinc Media’s audio offering which includes platform and brand commission podcasts, b2b and corporate podcasts, and award-winning radio production.”
Tony Robinson’s Cunningcast builds on an impressive catalogue of audio content from Zinc including the brand-funded podcasts Hear Her Voice, presented by Laura Whitmore and the Evening Standard Rugby Podcast with Lawrence Dallaglio, alongside the group’s first Audible Original – Edge of Reality.
