Yorkshire Post features boss takes Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce role

Mark Casci - West and North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce

Mark Casci, Head of Business and Features at Yorkshire Post, is set to move on after 14 years to take up a new role at West and North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce.

Casci, who will start the new role in August, has been appointed as Head of Business Representation and Policy replacing Mark Goldstone who has left him with “some gigantic shoes to fill”.

He initially joined the Yorkshire Post as Rural Affairs Correspondent, before moving onto roles as Deputy News Editor, News Editor, Business Editor and most recently as Head of Business and Features, as well as serving as a duty editor as part of the senior management team at the title.

On his new role he said: “I am massively grateful to the board for offering me the role. I must pay tribute to Mark Goldstone who is leaving me massive shoes to fill. His contribution to the region’s economy and people is a superb legacy and one I am proud and humbled to inherit.

“I cannot wait to start the new role and will be giving it my all to make Yorkshire the most attractive place to do business in the nation.”

Chair of the West & North Yorkshire Chamber, Amanda Beresford, commented: “I am delighted Mark is joining us, he will be a great addition to our team. Mark’s skills, knowledge of and commitment  to  the region will be invaluable in helping us to connect, support and represent  business in the area.”

On leaving the Yorkshire Post, in a social media post Casci said: “The title has given me so much. It has taken me all over the world, allowed me to win awards, meet interesting people and witness history. More than anything it has seen me work with and learn from some of the best journos in the country, some of whom I consider lifelong friends.

“It is truly a special place. I will always be grateful for everything it has given me. In many ways, aside from of course my family, working here has been the defining [experience] of my adult life. It has a powerful voice and a gravitas that is felt across the country.”

He joins former Welcome to Yorkshire CEO James Mason, who was appointed as Chief Executive of the West and North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce in February.
