The multimillion pound development of the former RAF site at Church Fenton has been approved.
David Caulfield, the Director of Economic Regeneration and Place at Selby District Council confirmed that the council’s Planning Committee “unanimously” voted in favour of the move.
Makin Enterprises applied to receive full planning permission for the facility and permanently change the use of existing buildings (including aircraft hangars) into studios and office spaces.
The Create Yorkshire development would be aimed at high end film and television productions, but also have an “employment park” for creative and digital industries.
The organisation said that it would become “a centre of excellence for TV and film production” and could support up to 2000 jobs across the creative and digital sector.
Church Fenton Studios are already in demand by the likes of Mammoth Film, which has shot ITV’s Victoria at the 440 acre site since 2015.
