World’s largest advertising company acquires Lancaster software firm CCG

WPP, the multinational communications, advertising, PR and tech company, has snapped up Cloud Commerce Group (CCG), which joins the Wunderman Thompson global network.

The ad agency group, whose companies include Wavemaker, MediaCom and Ogilvy, has acquired the software firm for an undisclosed sum as part of its accelerated growth and M&A strategy.

CCG will become part of WPP’s commerce and technology proposition under the Wunderman Thompson umbrella.

The software firm, headquartered in Lancaster, employs 100 staff and supports retailers and wholesalers across Europe, processing more than £1 billion in gross merchandise value each year.

CCG’s software integrates with leading marketplaces like Amazon, eBay, Etsy and Wayfair, as well as Shopify and Magento, plus various accounting systems, payment gateways and fulfilment partners.
