Workspace and growth accelerator Huckletree is to open in Manchester, its first UK base outside London.

Tech Nation and Pixel Kicks are among the first members at the 26,000 sq ft workspace in the former Daily Express building on Great Ancoats Street.

It includes a 100-plus person ‘Live Lounge’, a meditation and wellness space and a purpose-built podcast studio.

Founded in 2014 by Gabriela Hersham and Andrew Lynch, the company has raised more than €10 million from backers such as investment manager Meyer Bergman and Revolt Ventures.

Inside the new Manchester base

It is aiming to have over 2,000 members – from digital lifestyle, media and tech businesses – across London, Dublin, Manchester and Oslo by the end of this year.

“There’s more to our first Northern workspace than instagrammable interiors and wall art,” said CEO and co-founder Gabriela Hersham.

“We want this to be a place for businesses to sustainably grow, internationalise and reach productive outcomes. This is not just a space to clock in, work and clock out, and for that reason we’re not for everyone.

“We’ve tested our curated and themed model in our Soho and Westminster locations to great success and we are committed to delivering long-term value for our members and their industries, rather than pushing for fast wins and growth above all else.”
