The Media Centre is on the hunt for a new CEO, as Brent Woods leaves after 12 years.
He’ll be moving to the Yorkshire and North East Film Archive as its new Archive Director, taking over from founder and current Archive Director, Sue Howard, who’s stepping down after more than 30 years in the role.
“I am thrilled to be joining the Yorkshire and North East Film Archive and picking up from the incredible work of Sue Howard,” he said.
I look forward to providing our communities with access to their moving image heritage while tackling the challenge of rescuing and preserving more of our film, video and digital social history before it disappears.”
He joins the archive in July, which is when he leaves The Media Centre. The not-for-profit organisation in Huddersfield town centre is home to almost 200 companies.
“Brent has made a significant impact on The Media Centre during his 12-year tenure, eliminating its dependence on public funding and driving change management programmes to enable us to be more sustainable and resilient,” explained Andrew Bird, Chair of the Board of Directors.
“Brent was the driving force behind the centre’s reputation as an inclusive space for people to work, learn, discuss, inspire, and connect. While they are undoubtedly big shoes to fill, we’re looking forward to welcoming new talent and ideas into the company – in order to further drive Kirklees forward as a hub of creativity.”
Woods will oversee the appointment of his replacement.
