Warrington Borough Council (WBC) has revealed the new branding for its £107m redevelopment of the town centre.
It’s been designed by Manchester-based DS Emotion, which was appointed last year, following a competitive pitch.
“The regeneration of the area that will from now on be known as Time Square marks an exciting new chapter for Warrington town centre. We felt that it deserved an appropriately fresh, strong new look that accurately reflects what Warrington town centre has to offer and compliments Warrington as a modern, sociable and exciting destination,” explained Leader of Warrington Borough Council, Councillor Terry O’Neill.
“It was essential that the new brand articulated what is great about Warrington, whilst assisting in driving the scheme forward and we feel that the attractive new Time Square branding reflects that.”
Time Square was previously known as the Bridge Street Regeneration Scheme and includes Time Square and Warrington Market.
DS Emotion developed the new look in partnership with WBC, Warrington & Co and Muse Developments. The decision to rename the and overhaul the area’s identity is aimed at “emboldening and enhancing” the town centre and reposition Warrington as a “vibrant town centre.”
When completed in 2019, it will feature a 13 screen cinema, a 42,000sq ft market hall, restaurants, new council offices, retail space and a public square. There will also be a multi-storey car park.
The branding will be used across all signage, marketing and promotional materials for the scheme.
