100 new jobs in Manchester are to be created as Virgin Media continues to roll out its ultrafast network, part of ‘Project Lightning’.
The communications provider is increasing the size of its customer service team, which currently numbers more than 450 across Manchester, and has opened applications for full- and part-time roles based at its Wythenshawe location.
Over the past year Virgin Media has invested in more than 1,000 UK-based contact centre roles to help support its customers.
The company says that its investment in talent will help it deliver next-generation gigabit speeds across the entire network by the end of 2021, and deliver ultrafast connectivity to hundreds of thousands more premises.
Nicola Moore, Director of People Partnering, Talent and Careers at Virgin Media O2, said: “With 100 customer service roles now available, we’re continuing to step up and support our customers, as well as creating exciting job opportunities for people in the North West looking for their next career move.
“We are committed to creating new jobs and investing in our people so they can offer brilliant service to all of our customers as part of our mission to upgrade the UK and supercharge communities.”
Councillor Gavin White, executive member for housing and employment at Manchester City Council, added: “The pandemic has had a massive impact on people’s jobs and livelihoods and a key priority for us as we emerge from it is helping support our local residents back into work.
“It’s great therefore to see companies like Virgin Media investing in Manchester and providing some brilliant career opportunities that will help change lives.”
