It’s becoming one of the most anticipated ad reveals of the year and this Christmas, John Lewis’ campaign features an old man living on the moon soundtracked by Oasis’ Half The World Away.
It was filmed on purpose built sets at the Warner Bros studio and heavily features CGI.
The full-length advert runs at 2 minutes, starring a young girl, who strikes up a bond with a lonely man, living on the moon. Wishing him a merry Christmas, she sends him a telescope – which she ties to a bunch of balloons.
The retailer will be using the campaign to promote Age UK, with its stores and website promoting a text-to-donate function as well as donating money through sales of selected Christmas items.
The ad reportedly cost £1m, with a further £6m expected to be invested in television slots.
Like last year’s Monty the Penguin campaign, John Lewis used Adam&Eve/DBB.
Half The World Away – made famous as the theme music for the Royle Family – is covered by 19-year-old Norwegian singer, Aurora.
