Veteran broadcaster Billy Butler is to reduce his hours at BBC Radio Merseyside.
The 73-year-old will drop from six to four days a week, taking Monday and Tuesday off from the afternoon show.
He’ll continue to present his afternoon show on Radio Merseyside on Wednesdays to Fridays from two pm to four pm, as well as his Saturday morning show from 9am until 11am.
Early breakfast show host Jenny Lee Summers will take over the afternoon show for the two days instead.
Sue Owen, managing editor of BBC Radio Merseyside, said: “Billy is a legend in Merseyside, the airwaves of Liverpool just wouldn’t be the same without him. For more than forty years, he’s been making listeners laugh out loud.
“Working six days a week is a big ask for anyone, although he’s done it brilliantly for so long. I’m really pleased he’ll still be on air four days a week. I’m also delighted we’ve been able to give Jenny Lee Summers, an exciting local broadcasting talent, a prime slot in our schedule.”
