North west chef Simon Rimmer will be fronting a new daytime cookery quiz show for Channel 4.
The 30 x 30-minute series called Truffle or Tripe, will see contestants compete using their knowledge of food and cooking skills and is an expansion of the Chorlton-based chef’s work with the channel.
Each episode pits two teams against each other to answer questions correctly to win prized ingredients, before combining them to cook a tasty dish. Wrong answers will result in the teams having to create a dish using undesirable ingredients then the team which create the tastiest dish wins the contest.
Hat Trick Productions-backed Plum Pictures is reported to have already started auditioning for contestants and will go into production on the quiz next year. The show is open to home cooks, as well as seasoned professionals.
Rimmer has become a well-known face to C4 viewers via Sunday Brunch after making his name with the Greens vegetarian restaurant which opened in 1990 in West Didsbury and quickly earned acclaim.
He recently announced his first Liverpool restaurant and regularly tweets recipes, tips and updates about his life @simonrimm.
Truffle or Tripe was commissioned by David Sayer, C4’s daytime commissioning and development editor.
