Travel Counsellors hits £1bn sales target

Manchester’s Travel Counsellors has hit its £1bn sales target, posting the sum for the 365 days to the end of August 2024.

The landmark sales performance reflects growing demand for expert and personal travel services and comprised £735m of sales to leisure customers and £265m in corporate sales, primarily to small and medium sized businesses.

This performance was underpinned by over 155,000 Leisure (B2C) bookings over the period (defined as the 365 days to 23rd August 2024) and more than 164,000 Corporate (B2B) bookings. The average booking value for Leisure bookings over the period was £4,717, while the average value for premium leisure bookings was £7,626 and the average value for corporate bookings at £1,577.

Top-selling Leisure destinations during the period were the Mediterranean, the USA and Southeast Asia. Cruise holidays continued to be incredibly popular, accounting for nearly £50m in sales.

In fact, £364m of sales across the period were for tailored TC packages, building on the company’s success as a tour operator.

297 new Travel Counsellors joined the business over the period, a 7% increase against the prior year, taking the company to 2,121 Travel Counsellors in its community at the end of August.

Steve Byrne, CEO of Travel Counsellors, said: “We are delighted to have broken through the £1bn sales milestone, which is a significant moment for our business. We now have our sights firmly set on doubling the size of the business in the next 3-5 years.

“This milestone would not have been possible without the hard work, commitment and care which is lived and breathed by the Travel Counsellors community. I would like to take this opportunity to thank each one of our Travel Counsellors for their contribution to achieving this milestone. Their relentless focus on our customers and clients means we are very well placed to continue to disrupt the travel market through superb, personalised service and our highly scalable and differentiated technology-led business model.”
