Manchester’s Hunter Price International has acquired online toy retailer, BargainMax.
Described as a “transformative deal” for both North West businesses, Hunter Price said it would accelerate its growth and expansion strategy, following its most successful year to date – with the group’s sales exceeding £50m.
“The retail landscape continues to evolve, as do we! The time has come to be braver and bolder with our brands and build for the future; We couldn’t be happier to welcome BargainMax.co.uk into the Hunter Price family!” stated Jeremy Winburn, Co-CEO (commercial).
“Bringing together two hugely talented teams to activate our brand stories – allowing for greater collaboration and creativity – it’s a perfect partnership for us – it’s the best 15th birthday present we could have given ourselves!”
The deal, for an undisclosed sum, means the combined operation will develop and supply products across Toys, Accessories, Lifestyle, Stationery, Arts & Crafts, including own brand and licensed product collections.
“Earlier this year we made an unwavering investment and commitment to excellence in everything we do; to our loyal customers, suppliers and other stakeholders,” added Josh Eden, Co-CEO (operations & finance).
“This announcement today shows our actions speak louder than our words. We believe our own brands and partnerships have so much untapped potential; and we now have the capabilities to continue to innovate and activate our portfolio, to build brand equity, value and market share.
“We believe all our stakeholders will see the benefits of our omni-channel expansion, maintaining our completing not competing mindset, to offer more insight, innovation and commercial impact.”
Hunter Price is the licensee and distribution partner for brands, including Gabby’s Dollhouse, Squishmallows, Warner Bros, Barbie, Peppa Pig, Paw Patrol, Crayola, Cocomelon, Billie Faiers and the Style Sisters.
Founded in 2012, BargainMax announced a 27% increase in sales last year.
“Hunter Price and BargainMax.co.uk share the same entrepreneurial spirit, energy and excitement for impactful consumer products,” added Alex Woolfstein, CEO of BargainMax.co.uk.
“We both have the consumer at the heart of everything we do – we’re building for the future, together as one team – so I couldn’t be prouder to be part of this journey alongside Hunter Price.”
