Tom and Giovanna Fletcher design 2024 Children in Need t-shirt

BBC Children in Need and George at Asda today launch this year’s official T-shirt, designed by Tom (McFly) and Giovanna (CBeebies) Fletcher.

As well as the couple, a host of stars have thrown their support behind the 2024 BBC Children in Need fundraising appeal by sporting the unisex T-shirt including mega musicians Emma Bunton and Rita Ora.

Inspired by the Fletcher’s shared love of music as well as their sons who are each represented by a colourful spot on Pudsey’s bandana, the pair teamed up with the design teams at George at Asda to create an inventive new take on the official T-shirt. Nodding to BBC Children in Need’s own concert series ‘Children in Need’ Rocks from years gone by, the Pudsey band tee explores the biggest moments in the Charity’s history, from the very first radio appeal in 1927 all the way up till now.

All money raised through the sale of the T-shirt will go towards Asda and BBC Children in Need’s Fuelling Potential campaign tackling food insecurity and its commitment to making a difference to young lives for many more children and young people all across the UK.

BBC Children in Need funding brings the right people and places into children’s lives when they need help or support. The need has never been greater as right now the charity is only able to help one in eight of the organisations who apply for funding.

Tom and Giovanna recently paid a visit to BBC Children in Need funded project GROW to see the impact of Fuelling Potential in action. While at GROW, Tom and Giovanna met with Asda Community Champion Jess Drake, project workers and young people at the heart of GROW to learn about how they influence the lives of the young people in the local area through their farm project, summer and after school clubs.

The 2024 Adult T-shirt £10 is available to buy from www.george.com & in Asda stores from Monday September 30. In addition to the Official T-shirt, the design also features on a mug, £3, kids T-shirt, £5/£6/£7 and a tote bag, £4 which are also available to purchase in store from September 30.

Tom Fletcher said: “When myself and Gi got the call to help design this year’s BBC Children in Need T-shirt we jumped at the opportunity. It was so fun to reimagine what the iconic Pudsey tee could look like if we transformed it into a band style tee celebrating all the ‘best bits’ of this amazing charity. Getting down to your local Asda to pick it up is an easy way to get involved with BBC Children in Need this year to raise vital funds to empower every child to thrive and be the best they can be.”

Giovanna Fletcher said: “We are extremely proud to be apart of this year’s BBC Children in Need launch to raise vital funds to make life lighter for children. Designing the T-shirt with the team at George at Asda was an absolute dream and we loved threading aspects of our own lives into it. If you look closely at the bandana, each colourful spot represents one of our three boys Buzz, Buddy and Max. Through getting involved or simply picking up a T-shirt, BBC Children in Need can continue help to lighten the load for hundreds of thousands of children when they need us most.”

Claire Hoyle, Director of Income, Marketing & Communications at BBC Children in Need said: “It is an absolute pleasure to have collaborated with the wonderfully talented Tom and Giovanna Fletcher on our Official T-Shirt with George & Asda this year. As a powerhouses in music, bestselling authors and children’s entertainers, they were an absolute dream to work with and the perfect pair to bring this year’s T shirt to life. Funds raised from The T-shirt will go towards supporting hundreds of thousands of children when they need us most.”

Liz Evans, Chief Commercial Officer – George at Asda said “It’s been fantastic to work with Tom and Giovanna on the creation of this year’s official BBC Children in Need T-shirt. We absolutely love how they have brought their creativity and personality to life in the design, alongside a really on trend ‘band tour’ theme that will help our customers to support the great work of BBC Children in Need in style.”
