Toddler Fun Learning, a YouTube channel set up by two Wirral parents in 2012, has been bought by global entertainment company Moonbug.

Amalie and Christian Hughes started the channel after becoming frustrated with the content available for their two-year-old toddler. The firm is now based at Liverpool’s Baltic Creative and has a team of more than 20 local creatives working on design, music and technology.

The channel’s star show is Gecko’s Garage, which has been viewed for more than 1 billion minutes.

Moonbug, a digital-first entertainment company with offices in Los Angeles and London, has also acquired Amsterdam-based My Magic Pet Morphle.

Moonbug head of mergers and acquisitions Alfie Chubb said: “With these acquisitions, we will continue to drive rapid growth and further diversify Moonbug’s kids slate of content.”

René Rechtman, co-founder and CEO of Moonbug, added: “Both My Magic Pet Morphle and Gecko’s Garage are kids’ shows adored the world over. Both shows are extraordinarily produced, and have demonstrated high viewership and engagement from their dedicated following.

“We have the potential to grow these high-opportunity kids’ properties into global entertainment brands — and we look forward to doing just that.”
