TBWA\MCR’s content and production division, Sting Films, treated Love Island viewers to the debut of The Tanning Shop’s first ever TV advert during last night’s installment of the show.

Becci Nadin, deputy creative director of TBWA\MCR, said, “It’s no secret, it’s been the longest winter known to man. And in the current climate, holidays are a precious commodity, which we’re patiently waiting for. So, we wanted to highlight that anyone can get that holiday hit on their lunch break, post-workout or after work. It’s also a non-negotiable for us to promote safe tanning, which is what sets The Tanning Shop apart. With stand-up, lie down and spray on, there are safe ways to tan for everyone. So please, tan, and flaunt, responsibly.”

The commercial is an unconventional beauty ad which uses a typical office setting and exaggerated performances to bring humour into a market which could conventionally be seen as only aesthetic.

Mel Wilson, marketing director of The Tanning Shop said: “The agency really understood our brief and our brand and have created a commercial that we believe will massively resonate with our target audience. As a brand we’re professional, responsible and trustworthy and we take tanning very seriously, but we don’t like to take ourselves too seriously so we feel that this ad is a great reflection of ‘The Tanning Shop’ as a brand and its values.”
