Talk about the weather: Flow Creative creates new animations for Met Office

Flow Creative, the multi-award-winning animation studio based in Manchester, has revealed its latest collaboration with the Met Office and GIPHY, bringing an exclusive collection of animated stickers and GIFs to the Met Office’s expanding GIPHY channel.

This new release aims to engage a younger audience and add a fun, shareable twist to Britain’s favourite topic of conversation—the weather.

The collaboration, which began following the successful launch of the Met Office’s GIPHY channel last year, has resulted in a series of charming and relatable weather-themed animations. The set is led by a lovable cloud character, and visualises a range of weathers and related moods, from gloomy rainy days and missing the sunshine to cheekily riding a rainbow. The exclusive sticker and GIF pack, now available on the Met Office’s GIPHY channel, features nine weather-based scenarios – perfect for adding a playful twist to any conversation about the weather.

This collaboration is part of an ongoing effort by the Met Office to explore innovative ways of reaching new audiences and keeping their content both informative and entertaining.

Karl Doran, creative director at Flow Creative, said: “We’re thrilled to have had the opportunity to work with the Met Office on this exciting project. Our goal was to create something that was not only visually appealing but also emotionally resonant and fun to share. The process has been incredibly collaborative, and we’ve enjoyed every moment of working closely with their team to bring this character to life.”

Ross Middleham, creative lead at the Met Office, added: “We are delighted to have been working closely with the amazing team at Flow to launch an exclusive animated sticker pack, made in collaboration with GIPHY, for launch on our ever-expanding channel. The bright, colourful set feature a loveable cloud character designed to make you laugh, smile and share in those moments when weather impacts how you feel”
