Stuart Organ – Grange Hill’s longest serving actor dies

Stuart Organ, who’ll be best remembered as the longest serving actor on BBC’s Grange Hill, has died aged 72.

According to his management, he died peacefully at home after a short illness.

Organ played PE teacher and later Headteacher, Mr Robson, on the children’s drama for 15 years. He only left in 2003, when the production moved to Liverpool.

His acting career began in the North, in the 1970s – at the Leeds Playhouse and he had an MA in Drama and Theatre Arts from Leeds University. Some of his first television work included roles on Doctor Who and playing Kevin Cross in Brookside.

Organ also appeared in Casualty, Holby City, London’s Burning and Bridgerton, as well as films including Those Glory Days and Fork in the Road.

HIs voice will be familiar to gamers, having provided voice overs for Star Wars: The Old Republic, Assassin’s Creed: Unity, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine and Killzone 3.
