Sky News has chosen 13 journalism students from the University of Salford to report from counts at marginal seats.
They will film and report live from 10 constituencies across the North West, producing vox pops outside polling stations, tweets and blogs. They will also stream live footage from the counts and report the results to Sky’s headquarters for use in its election coverage.
“The involvement of Salford students, along with students from other universities, will allow us to offer our most comprehensive General Election service ever to the UK public,” explained Sky News producer Clare Fortune, who organised the General Election digital camera project.
“The live streamed footage captured by the Salford team at the counts in key marginals across the North West, plus their ability to input the results as soon as they are announced, will give Sky News fantastic coverage across TV, digital platforms and social media.”
The Salford undergraduates and postgraduates will cover the Burnley, Bury North, High Peak, Oldham East and Saddleworth, Pendle, Rossendale and Darwen, Southport, Warrington South, Wirral South and Wirral West marginal constituencies.
