‘Six-figure’ investment for Liverpool medical tech firm

River Capital has announced a significant six-figure investment in Jones AV Limited, a Birkenhead-based specialist in integrated operating theatre technology.

The investment was secured through the £18m North West Business Growth Loan Fund, which was cornerstoned by MSIF and enhanced by TDC. Additional enabling support came from The Liverpool City Region Combined Authority’s Flexible Growth Fund. River Capital oversees the management of both funding sources.

Jones AV, founded in 2008 by Director Ingo Aicher, has established itself as a pioneer in medical audio-visual integration, having completed over 600 operating theatre integrations across 13 countries.

The company’s innovative approach recently earned it the Best Healthcare Integration award at the 2024 Innovation Awards in Barcelona for the Integrated Operating Theatre of Things system.

The investment package is strategically structured to fuel Jones AV’s growth and innovation and is set to create six new jobs in the Liverpool City Region over the next year, further strengthening the local economy and showcases Jones’s growth trajectory.

It includes investment for working capital to manage cashflows and cash dedicated to enhancing the company’s proprietary operating theatre control software. This software development initiative is expected to significantly boost Jones AV’s competitive edge and profitability in the medical technology market.

Jim Moore, investment manager at River Capital said: “Jones AV exemplifies the kind of innovative, high-growth potential company we aim to support. Their track record of delivering cutting-edge solutions in healthcare technology aligns perfectly with our investment strategy. We’re confident this funding will enhance their expansion and contribute to the region’s growing reputation as a hub for medical innovation.”

Ingo Aicher, director of Jones AV, added: “This support from River Capital comes at a crucial juncture for Jones AV. It will enable us to capitalise on our robust order book, accelerate our software development, and continue pushing the boundaries of what's possible in operating theatre integration. We’re excited about the potential this creates not just for our company, but for advancing patient care through technology.”
