Leeds-based drone detection company, COPTRZ, believes there will be a big increase in demand for its services as events seek to remove the threat of drones.
It was recently brought in by the British F1 Grand Prix at Silverstone to use technology to ensure that drones weren’t near the site.
Using the latest technology, not only can they locate the drone, but also its pilot to take action and ground the machine.
“The number of drones taking to the skies is an increasing concern for large sporting events such as the Formula 1 2018 Rolex British Grand Prix here at Silverstone,” explained Lesley Cox, head of safety and security at Silverstone.
“Being able to detect drones in real-time is a really important aspect of event safety and security, and this solution enabled us to react efficiently and to dispatch response teams to the drone pilot’s location.
Steve Coulson, founder and managing director of COPTRZ added that they had been working with music festivals as well to ensure that events remained drone-free.
