Silicon Valley-backed gaming start-up moves to new Altrincham HQ

The video games team behind Golf Clash is to set up a studio in Altrincham.

ForthStar was established by Paul Gouge and Alex Rigby – who sold their previous company, Playdemic, to Electronic Arts for $1.4bn in 2021.

Earlier this year, they secured $10m from Silicon Valley-based Griffin Gaming Partners to develop future projects.

ForthStar be taking a 6,396sq ft studio space at the new Foundation building, developed by Bruntwood and Trafford Council.

“We believe that the greatest companies hire incredible talent into amazing environments,” said Gouge.

“These environments are both cultural and physical, and enable and empower people to do their best work. In line with this belief, we have created an inspirational space for our people in the heart of Altrincham and they love it!”

The company was previously based at the neighbouring Station House building and approached Bruntwood to help design and develop the studio.

“With Foundation, we want to create a community where businesses can come together to collaborate, socialise and support the development of the business community in Altrincham. ForthStar is a welcome addition to this,”added Sharon Johnson, Head of Commercial Bruntwood.
