The Traveller and the Bear and Flipbook Studio are behind the Christmas ad campaign for Landsec’s shopping centres.
Featuring the return of a trio of sassy, strutting turkeys, animated by the Flipbook team, it’s voiced once again by Dame Joanna Lumley.
Devised by The Traveller and the Bear, the “playful yet polished campaign” is intended to give Landsec’s destinations a “unique and identifiable personality.”
“Strutting, dancing, twerking, preening turkeys. Makes total sense, right?” said Antonio Bachini, Creative Director at The Traveller and The Bear.
“Well, in the season of ads battling it out with massive spends and predictable heart-tugging films, it’s wise to avoid the bun fight. We took the unsung hero of Christmas and made them fabulous.”
Each of the twerking turkeys was designed, modelled and animated by Flipbook Studios Manchester-based creature and character team.
Flipbook Studio’s Managing Director, Andrew Lord explained that special care had to be taken to craft the turkeys’ lifelike details, from feather simulations (groom) to complex rigging, allowing them to move with realism and personality.
“Crafting these turkeys was a unique challenge that our team embraced with enthusiasm,” he continued.
“Our creature and character team has extensive experience in crafting CGI creatures that bring brands and stories to life, and this campaign allowed us to showcase that expertise in a fun, festive way. From the lifelike feathers to their larger-than-life movements, we wanted each detail to resonate with audiences and make these turkeys as memorable as possible.”
The ad will run across TV and Video on Demand, OOH, radio, and social media, as well as appearing on Piccadilly Lights this December. It will also feature across 7 of Landsec’s sites, including Bluewater, Kent; Braintree Village, Essex; Clarks Village, Somerset; Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth; St David’s, Cardiff; Westgate Oxford and Trinity Leeds.
