Rose Marley is to stand down as the chief operating officer of The Sharp and The Space Projects.
It comes following Manchester City Council’s move to form a new company to run all of its digital assets, within which both operations will fall.
Chaired by Susan Woodward, the founder of Sharp and Space, it will be a 100%-owned subsidiary of the council, with a mixture of public and private sector directors.
Marley was offered the opportunity to lead the new company, but has instead decided to focus on “developing new opportunities.” She will stand down at the end of the summer.
“The Sharp Project, The Space Project and SharpFutures are all well established, successful business’ operating in surplus and delivering significant economic and social outcomes. I’m incredibly proud of what we have achieved and look forward to seeing the projects go from strength to strength,” she said.
The company will be recruiting senior management over the coming months.
“Rose is an exceptional person who has driven this business with a passion and tenacity that is rare to find in one individual. The projects owe a great deal to her as does Manchester. We will all miss her energy and entrepreneurship – someone will have to fill very big boots,” added Susan Woodward.
