The Red Production Company has confirmed that The Driver, a new 3-part drama for BBC One will start shooting in the New Year.
Starring David Morrissey, it’s being made as a co-production with High Field Pictures.
Few details about the drama have been released so far, but it’s been written by Danny Brocklehurst (The Street, The Accused, Exile, Shameless USA), Jolyon Symonds (Breathless, Thorne) will produce and further casting will be announced shortly.
Currently in pre-production, The Driver is about bored taxi driver, Vince, who one night catches up with an old friend, Col, who’s just been released from prison after 6 years. On a drunken night out, Vince tells Col about how awful his life is and Col “introduces him to someone who will change his life forever.”
It will be shot on location in Manchester.
