David Lillington has been appointed managing director by Lancaster-based Reading Room, which was acquired by Fat Media Group in 2018.

Lillington joined Fat Media as Director of Strategy and Digital Marketing last year having previously worked at Microserve and Research Media..

The new role has been created to handle the growth that Reading Room has seen in the last year, with new clients including the British Safety Council and Circle Health Group.

He said: “For the last 18 months, I’ve been working closely with our group chief executive officer, David Durnford, to shape the strategic vision for the business and to reposition the Reading Room brand as a user-centric and data-driven consultancy.

“I’m passionate about engendering a culture of fresh thinking and exploration when it comes to tackling client challenges. This consultative approach has been instrumental in strengthening our client relationships and has empowered us to help our clients navigate through even the toughest of times.”

Fat Media acquired Reading Room, then based in Manchester, in November 2018 for a nominal amount of £1. Idox had bought Reading Room in a £5.6m deal back in 2015.
