Rad new website for Skateboard GB

Pixel Kicks has created and launched a brand-new website for Skateboard GB, the national governing body for skateboarding in England and the home of Olympic skateboarding in Great Britian.

Pixel Kicks won the contract last year following an extensive tender process and the core aim is to showcase this progressive, exciting sport and build on its growing profile. Paris 2024 was the second time skateboarding has been at the Olympics.

As well as harnessing the Olympic Games association, the new site is centred around supporting Skateboard GB’s 12-Year Strategic Plan which is all about promoting the sport based on four key pillars: Skate More, Skate Better, Skateable Places and Connect.

It showcases and champions everything that is positive about skateboarding, including its heritage and culture. Skateboard GB collaborates closely with the community to develop more opportunities and better environments to skate, so a big part of the website’s role will be to inspire and inform existing, new and the next generation of skaters as well as other stakeholders including skateparks, shops, coaches, the media, sponsors and partner organisations such as Sport England, UK Sport and Skateboard Scotland.

Key functionalities include an interactive events calendar, a dedicated news section and a comprehensive resources library for training and development that is aimed at both newcomers and veterans alike. The site is also home to the UK’s number one skateboard app – MySkate – which enables people to search for skateparks across the country by simply entering a location or postcode.

Through the design, Pixel Kicks has introduced a modern and clean aesthetic that is inspired by a lifestyle brand aesthetic and has real life skaters at the very forefront of the creative. This once again reaffirms both the organisation’s position in the community and the importance it places on people.

Chris Buckley, MD of Pixel Kicks, said: “This has been a fantastic project to work on and we are really pleased with the result. Skateboarding is now an Olympic sport so the launch timing could not be better as the team has been able to create a hub where fans could go for all the latest news, information and results. Chris added: “Moving forward, I’m confident the new site will be a great foundation for Skateboard GB to continue its work over the coming years.”

Neil Ellis, head of digital engagement at Skateboard GB, commented: “Pixel Kicks really understood us and our aims so we knew they would be the right partner for this project. Feedback has been brilliant so far and I know it will add real value to every part of the organisation and to our communities and stakeholders.”
