BBC Radio 5 Live has released Rachael Bland’s final recording of You, Me and The Big C.
The podcast episode is called “About The New Normal” and examines the “new normal” term which is often used by the medical profession and cancer communities, as patients try to find a sense of normality in their lives after diagnosis and treatment.
It was recorded less than a month ago.
Rachel Bland, who inspired thousands through the podcast and her own blog, died last week from terminal cancer.
In a poignant moment with her co-presenters Deborah James and Lauren Mahon, she talks about coping with her own “new normal”:
“The way I deal with it is by not thinking about it too deeply. I know I’m probably not going to be living for much longer but I don’t think about it too deeply because I wouldn’t be able to look at Freddie without weeping all over him. I want to spend valuable time with him – whatever time I have left – I want it to be good time.”
