Quba flies in to “revolutionise” Birmingham Airport

Sheffield’s Quba has won a new contract to design and develop a new website for Birmingham Airport.

It is part of the airport’s plan to increase passenger numbers from 12m to 18m by 2033.

“We’ve appointed Quba to build us a new website after they demonstrated strengths in all the necessary disciplines, not least creativity, technical nous and customer experience,” said Simon Evans, Head of Corporate Affairs & Marketing at Birmingham Airport.

With new airport security screening requirements coming into force next year, airports are having to rethink strategies to sustain revenue streams from food and duty-free sales, because passengers are expected to spend less time on site.

Quba’s solution for Birmingham is an in-airport “app style web experience” to maintain customer engagement and boost sales.

For the website itself, Quba will implement a headless content management platform, in order to provide greater autonomy and flexibility for Birmingham Airport’s marketing team, to “significantly enhance” the customer experience, and lay the foundation for future omnichannel content delivery to a variety of smart devices.

The launch is expected in the first half of next year.
