Manchester Evening News to publish Sunday edition

mensunday

Reach has announced that the Manchester Evening News is to be published 7 days a week.

The new edition is described as the “best in news and sport” but enhanced with “brilliant columnists and punchy opinion.”

“We’ve developed a well-deserved reputation for investigations, political coverage and powerful social journalism. This type of content will provide the foundation for a regional Sunday newspaper with clout, substance and authority,” explained editor-in-chief, Darren Thwaites.

“With national politics covered almost exclusively by London-based writers, we have the opportunity to drive the Northern political agenda from here in Manchester.”

He added that the Sunday edition would also provide the “most in-depth and informed” reporting of Manchester City and Manchester United.

It will be priced at 85p and launch on February 10th.

“This is great news for Manchester, great news for our readers and advertisers and great news for our team,” added Carl Wood, the regional managing director for Reach.

“The launch of M.E.N on Sunday reinforces our commitment to Manchester and the wider region and builds further on the strength and success already being delivered in having the largest audience in regional press in the UK and one which continues to grow.

“We believe Manchester deserves its own Sunday newspaper and we are delighted we are able to provide it.”
