The Telegraph has appointed Richard Madeley as its new agony uncle.

The former This Morning presenter will write a weekly column on topics including parenting issues and career advice.

He replaces Graham Norton, who left in October after writing for the paper for 12 years. Madeley’s first column will be on December 1st.

Madeley began his media career in local newspapers before spells with BBC Radio Carlisle, Border Television and Yorkshire TV.

He moved to Granada Reports in the early 1980s and with wife Judy Finnigan presented This Morning from its inception in 1988 until 2001.
