Prolific North Creative Awards 2023: Meet the rest of our judges

Following the launch of the Prolific North Creative Awards, we can now confirm the rest of the judges joining an already impressive panel.

The Prolific North Creative Awards, which will be hosted live on June 29th, will be a brand new format centred around a special exhibition to showcase the ground-breaking creative work emerging from across the sector, as well as recognising the award winners on the night.

With input from leading figures across the BBC, Google and ITV, the Prolific North Creative Awards will unite the Northern creative scene and be a brand new format to shine a spotlight on all the innovative campaigns and work from some of the region’s brightest creatives. 

Entries are now officially open, with the final entry deadline arriving on April 21st.

We recently revealed some of the industry experts already joining the judging panel this year, from the likes of Google, Dentsu Creative and Ogilvy. We are now delighted to confirm the rest of our judges.

Prolific North Creative Awards Judges 2023

 



Cerys Griffiths, Head of Content Production, BBC Education

At BBC Education and Bitesize, the BBC’s formal education resource for children and young people, Cerys is responsible for all BBC Education’s campaigns and promotion, its well-being and support portfolio for parents and young people on Bitesize. Cerys is a former TV and newspaper journalist and has been an editor of news programmes for both the BBC and ITV.

Karl Doran, Founder and Creative Director, Flow

Spending over 20 years working in creative and marketing, Karl has worked as a designer, illustrator, animator and film director, ending up specialising in motion design and animation direction. Today, he leads the motion studio agency and its team of creatives, overseeing the studios output creative across brand, motion, and film. 

Chloe Davis, Head of Social Impact, Lucky Generals

Chloe, who spent over 15 years working in retail, artist management and PR before launching her own company in 2015, campaigns for inclusion and equality in social spaces, corporate organisations and the wider community. She took on the role of Head of Social Impact for creative company Lucky Generals in 2021, where  she  is  responsible for setting the company’s social impact & sustainability (ESG) goals and ensuring that they are met in the most effective and creative ways possible. 

James Cross, Founder and Chief Creative Officer, Meanwhile

Launching Manchester-based start-up creative shop Meanwhile last year alongside Tim Cross, the duo were both previously Creative Directors at BBC Creative. Together, they won a BAFTA for the corporation’s Tokyo Olympics campaign. Prior to this, James has worked at several McCann Worldgroup offices, independent agencies, and has written two screenplays, including Bat Shit with Romesh Ranganathan.

Tim Cook, Creative Director, Ear to the Ground

Tim joined Ear to the Ground after spending 10 years in Berlin where he worked as Creative Director at M&C Saatchi Sports & Entertainment and WPP, working across clients such as Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, ASICSTIGER, Diageo, Native Instruments and The North Face. Now at Ear to the Ground, he focuses on culture-shaping global brands like PlayStation and New Balance. He said: “I love great creative work, so what better way to mark stellar creativity than with a nifty award? Really looking forward to seeing strong ideas that have permeated culture and chatting about them with some top, top people!”

Lücy AA, Art Director, Droga5

Lücy currently works at Droga5 in London, producing campaigns for global brands such as Rustlers and Brewdog. Prior to joining the advertising industry, Lücy worked in music with clients such as 02, Superdry, Old Jamaica and more. He also directed and filmed Lewis Capaldi’s Someone You Loved live performance at Shepherds Bush Empire. 

Justin Clark, Founder, SocialNorth and JustSocial

With more than 15 years experience in social media, Justin runs JustSocial, a strategic social media consultancy, and is a trusted strategic advisor to some of the world’s biggest brands and organisations. He’s also co-founder of SocialNorth, a networking and speaker event bringing together the digital communities of the North. He is driven by a desire to celebrate and showcase the North, and the exceptional talent based outside London!

Greg Owens, Creative Director, GAS Music

Greg has been with GAS Music, a music composition, sound design and audio post-production studio based in MediaCity, for six years. The studio has delivered more than 25 TV campaigns, composed two film scores, a primetime TV show theme and won two D&AD pencils. He also hosts the ‘Having a GAS…’ podcast, interviewing guests from Ogilvy, Grey, Saatchi & Saatchi, Leo Burnett, BBH, Leith and more.
