PR Agency One appoints ex-Daily Express staffer to launch News Hub

Katie Sewell

PR Agency One, the award-winning PR consultancy with offices in Manchester and London, is launching its News Hub service, which puts clients at the heart of the national news headlines, with the appointment of its first head of news.

Katie Sewell, former Reach plc journalist and senior reporter at the Daily Express has joined PR Agency One to head up its News Hub. The new headline-generating offering links journalistic expertise with insight-led campaign strategy. It also includes award-winning data and insight tools and lead generation insight, supporting the agency’s ‘creative effectiveness’ proposition.

Katie will lead PR Agency One’s team of seasoned ex-national news journalists, NCTJ qualified professionals and PR pros to get its client’s stories heard, in national print, online and broadcast media. She has previous article by-lines in the Daily Express, The Sun, and Daily Telegraph.

PR Agency One’s News Hub aims to put its clients at the heart of the news agenda by securing top-tier media coverage in target publications. The specialist team, which all of PR Agency One’s clients benefit from, uses a variety of technology tools to identify and reach key journalists, track coverage, and measure results. The team has a deep understanding of the media landscape and the changing needs of journalists, as well as constantly innovating and looking for new ways to reach and influence journalists.

The team will liaise with key journalists about upcoming editorial opportunities, undertake media audits to keep track of emerging news themes, monitor the news agenda and share newsjacking opportunities, and assist with media training for clients’ spokespeople.

James Crawford, managing director at PR Agency One, said: “Earned media remains a key driver of an integrated PR campaign across the PESO mix. The number of journalists in national, consumer, and trade newsrooms has plummeted in recent years, and the move to hybrid working has made it more challenging to communicate and maintain relationships with journalists. Our News Hub bypasses these hurdles by using technology, insights, and journalistic sense to create compelling stories that put our clients at the centre of the news agenda.

“We are constantly improving our processes and the way we operate, and creating a specific News Hub capability that combines our already award-winning media relations skills with tech tools means we’re always at the edge of innovation.”

News Hub uses a suite of different pieces of software to gain key insights from the national news media as well as specific trade sectors. The team can track consumer and business sentiment on trending themes, key competitors, and the wider industry, to produce detailed stakeholder maps.

Embedding multiple pieces of software into News Hub’s operations enables a data-driven approach, which is also informed by years of industry experience. The team can pinpoint influential journalists and publications covering specific topics and industry matters, to ensure news, comment and opinions are shared with the right audiences.
