The publisher of Football365 and Teamtalk has acquired Tipstrr, for an undisclosed sum.

Tipstrr is a marketplace for sports betting tips and Leeds-based Planet Sport said it intended to use the move to enhance its betting content and develop new subscription models.

“We have been following Tipstrr for a while and had previously identified them as a great fit to enhance Planet Sport’s D2C and B2B offerings in and around the sports betting market,” explained Barrie Jarrett, CEO of Planet Sport.

In 2021, Planet Sport hired Press Associations Betting Services MD, Mike Grenham as it sought to grow betting revenue streams.

Today it said that the acquisition would strengthen its ability to provide “expert insights, live coverage and engaging content across all major sports.”

The Tipstrr platform aggregates, proofs, and accredits sports betting tips from sports betting experts; processing and verifying more than 100,000 betting tips per month. It also tracks the odds for each tip at the point the tip is made, to then record ongoing and historical profitability of the tip selections.

It allows allows people to subscribe to verified experts’ selections and content across 20 different sports.

“At Tipstrr we’ve always focussed on creating great products and tools in the sports betting industry,” said Tipstrr founder, Damien Fearn.

“Joining Planet Sport allows us to reach a much wider audience and offer genuine value to more sports fans across the globe. The fit between the two companies was clear, even very early on in our discussions. The Tipstrr team and I are looking forward to growing as part of the Planet Sport network”

Planet Sport reaches around 20m sports fans, aged 18-44 every month.
