Former picture editor Ian Day has been promoted to Assistant Editor at the Yorkshire Post and Yorkshire Evening Post.
Ian was previously Group Picture Editor and will remain in charge of the picture desk at the Johnston Press owned titles.
This is the latest in a series of senior changes at Johnston Press in Yorkshire.
The vacancy arose after Andrew Vine took voluntary redundancy shortly after editor Peter Charlton stepped down.
Charlton bowed out as editorial director of the Yorkshire Post and Yorkshire Evening Post after 40 years in newspapers.
The changes come at a time of rapid change for the publisher which has found itself in the firing line of criticism from the National Union of Journalists (NUJ) following the announcement of a redundancy scheme earlier this week.
