Peter Crouch, John Bishop and Gabby Logan have been signed up by Amazon to host a new Premier League entertainment show.
Back of the Net will be streamed via its Prime Service and will launch this summer. It coincides the the beginning of the new Premier League deal, which will see Amazon exclusively stream live matches over December.
“While our live Premier League coverage in December will of course focus on the action, we wanted to bring back the humour and quirkiness of a studio show based on the nation’s favourite sport,” said Alex Green, MD Sports, Prime Video.
“I’m absolutely thrilled that Peter, Gabby and John will be our regular hosts, offering their wit, banter and anecdotes, every week of the season.”
The shows will be made with Sony Pictures Television’s Human Media and Buzz 16 (the company founded by Manchester United’s Gary Neville). The show runner is Alan Brown and the series producer is Luke Shiach.
Each week, the presenters will be joined by celebrity and football guests as they discuss the latest football news and take part in “smart, humorous debate.”
“Each week, I guarantee to give an extremely impartial, straight laced view of the recent champions of Europe,” said John Bishop.
Peter Crouch added:
“I’m really excited to start this show with Gabby and John and I’m hoping it’s going to be a smooth transition from bench to sofa.”
