For the first time in two decades, UK viewers can once again experience the glitz and the glamour of the Oscars free-to-air and exclusively on ITV1 and ITVX, along with a raft of programming to celebrate the highly anticipated awards.
The Oscars’ return to free-to-air comes after Sky’s 20-year deal with rights holder Disney expired last year.
On the night itself, Sunday, March 10 at 10.30pm, viewers can join Jonathan Ross live on ITV1 and ITVX (as well as STV and STV Player) for The Oscars as he hosts the ultimate Oscars party with a special show bringing all of the action from Hollywood to UK viewers, where he’ll be joined by a panel of movie-loving stars and special guests.
Preceding The Oscars, viewers will be able to get swept up in the Hollywood glamour with the official stream of the Oscars red carpet live show on ITVX exclusively for the UK from 9.30pm, with Ross King broadcasting directly from the event at the Dolby Theatre in LA.
In exciting sneak peeks, viewers can also delve into brand new, exclusive behind-the-scenes content, which is only available to watch in the UK on ITVX, which will be loaded onto the platform throughout the night.
The next day, continue to enjoy awards season, either by streaming the full ceremony over breakfast or with a 90-minute highlights package of the ceremony, airing on ITV1 at 10.45pm on Monday 11th March. This will also all be available to stream on the ITVX pop up Oscars page, with both remaining available on ITVX for three weeks.
ITV will also be warming up for the big night, kicking off on Tuesday January 23, for the global stream of the Oscars nominations live on ITVX (timings TBC) hosted by ITV News broadcaster Charlene White with Arts Editor Nina Nannar.
From February 26 warm up for the awards with a carefully curated, dedicated FAST channel on ITVX featuring Oscar-nominated films from the past, including Monster’s
Ball, Winter’s Bone, Adaptation, Bugsy Malone, Black Narcissus and Precious. Ross will also be hosting an Oscars special of his Must-Watch Films show.
Throughout the run up to the 96th Oscars, Good Morning Britain, Lorraine, This Morning, Loose Women and ITV News will cover the latest Oscars news and explore the build up to the biggest night in the film calendar.
Film fans can also enjoy a plethora of bespoke short-form content on ITVX, which includes nominee profiles and features exploring the various VIP Oscars events. There will also be a collection of Oscar-winning and Oscar-nominated films available to stream 24/7 on ITVX including Chicago, Flashdance, Ghost, Henry V, No Country For Old Men, Pulp Fiction and more.
