International Documentary Festival Sheffield has announced a restructure, with a joint leadership team.
The charity behind Sheffield DocFest will now be led by a Creative Director and Managing Director.
It comes following the departure of interim Managing Director, Sylvia Bednarz in July, and means interim CEO Clare Stewart will step down at the end of the year.
Stewart will support the Board in finding a new MD and permanent Creative Director and will continue to work with the team on strategic planning and lead on operations until the end of the year.
Raul Niño Zambrano has been named as Acting Creative Director. He joined last year as Head of Film Programmes.
“The Board is hugely grateful to Clare for steering the 2022 edition of the Festival, and for extending her original commitment to support on the next phase of Sheffield DocFest’s organisational development,” said Alex Cooke, Chair of the Board of Trustees.
“We warmly congratulate Raul on both his contribution to the 2022 programme and his move into creative leadership for our 30th edition.”
The joint leadership model will see the Managing Director take responsibility for business affairs, partnerships & fundraising, production & operations as well as audience development. The Creative Director will set the programme agenda across Film Programmes, Alternate Realities, Marketplace & Talent and Talks & Sessions.
