Online creative industries magazine Creative Boom is marking record traffic by expanding its team and announcing new plans for growth.

Founded in 2009 to support talented and upcoming creatives, Manchester-based Creative Boom offers inspiration, tips and advice and covers art, crafts, graphic design, illustration and photography.

With traffic now up to a million international hits a month, Mark Janson (above) has joined the team as director of strategy & partnerships.

Janson joins from design agency RetroFuzz, where he was chief operating officer, and before that he ran his own studio, Eskimo Creative.

Specialising in content strategy, advertising and brand partnership opportunities, Janson will be spearheading the development of Creative Boom, which will see the introduction of new features including a regular podcast launching later this year.

Creative Boom founder and editor, Katy Cowan, said: “Creative Boom has come a long way over the past seven years and Mark joins us at an exciting time when we’re faced with huge potential to expand on everything we’ve worked hard to achieve so far.

“We’ve enjoyed our highest ever traffic in recent months, attracting visitors from all over the world and are embracing the opportunity to grow our magazine – something that began as a simple hobby and has become a venture in its own right.”

Janson added: “Creative Boom is an established name in the creative industries and a leading site for inspiration and advice. I’m excited to join the team and be part of nurturing and growing a creative publishing platform. We have big plans for the site in the coming months, starting with a new podcast that will feature some of the world’s leading creative professionals.”
