Manchester online holiday specialist On The Beach has rubbished rumours of a holiday slowdown with record revenue of £170.2m – up £26.8m (18.7%) on the previous year – to the end of September 2023.
Its total pre-cancellation bookings totalled £1.07bn for the same period after an “especially pleasing” summer, while On the Beach said forward bookings were also at record levels.
Shaun Morton, chief executive officer of On the Beach Group plc, said the performance had been “incredibly strong… delivering record TTV and exceeding the £1bn revenue milestone for the first time – a huge achievement, testament to the hard work across all our teams in the business.”
He added: “We approach our key booking period in Q2 with significant momentum and this gives us confidence that Summer ’24 will be significantly ahead of Summer ’23.”
Full-year winter bookings were also up 34 per cent year-on-year, although market watchers should probably wait until 2024 for a fuller indication of the company’s apparent post-Covid resurgence as consumers do not tend to book for the crucial summer season until the turn of the year.
