OMG! Omnicom to bring 170 media jobs to Newcastle

Omnicom Media Group (OMG) UK is opening a new office in Newcastle, and creating up to 170 jobs over the next three years in the process.

London-based OMG UK’s investment in Newcastle follows the launch of another Omnicom Group agency, Credera, in 2022.

The investment will see up to 170 jobs created, from entry level apprenticeships to more senior positions, including a new managing director.

OMG UK also intends to sign up to the North of Tyne Combined Authority’s Good Work Pledge, and is looking to form partnerships with the city’s universities and college groups to help nurture local talent and create new opportunities for graduates.

Talent and skills are at the heart of OMG UK’s decision to invest in Newcastle, with the group recognising the significant expertise of the digital professionals living, working and studying in the city.

OMG is also committed to ensuring a representative and diverse workforce across its UK operations, with another office in Manchester strengthening its presence across the North of England and offering clients based outside of London a second hub to cater to their specific needs and growth strategies.

Dan Clays, CEO, Omnicom Media Group UK, said: “We have seen high growth as a business across media, content and commerce services, and the launch in Newcastle is a key part of our strategy to continue that momentum. The launch reflects a growing desire amongst our clients that we draw on talent from across the UK, and our own commitment to ensuring our talent is truly representative.

“The North-East and the city of Newcastle is an incredibly exciting place for us to access brilliant talent, and we look forward to creating career opportunities in media and marketing services in the months and years ahead.”

£895,000 will be awarded through the North of Tyne Combined Authority’s Inward Investment Fund to facilitate the creation of up to 170 new jobs, with local partners such as RMT accountants and global law firm DWF also working closely with the group.

Metro Mayor for the North of Tyne, Jamie Driscoll, said: “This is music to my ears. I’m pleased that we’ve been able to support OMG creating up to 170 jobs, at all levels, for local residents. Last year, we were the number one region in the country for inward investment job creation. And companies like OMG get it. That’s why they’re getting in on the ground floor with us as we build an even better region, together.”

OMG has been supported by Invest Newcastle in choosing Newcastle for its next UK office. It has a long-standing dedication to the development of its people, including its “Omnicom University,” which provides training for current and future leaders.
