Leeds and Manchester-based investment group, Northern Gritstone has recruited a new Head of Communications and Marketing from BNP Paribas.
Kate Spencer spent almost a decade at the banking group, as Head of Content, and Global Marketing Manager. She’s also been VP Global Institutional Business at JP Morgan and Senior Marketing and Communications Manager at climate tech start-up, Turntide Technologies.
The appointment comes after the company announced its final close of £312m to support science and tech spin-offs from the Universities of Leeds, Manchester and Sheffield.
“Kate’s communications and marketing experience in sustainable finance and technology is a welcome addition to Northern Gritstone’s team and will enable us to spread our message of ‘profit with purpose’ and the amazing talent and investment opportunities available in the North of England,” said Northern Gritstone CEO, Duncan Johnson.
Spencer will be based in Leeds and is responsible for raising awareness of Northern Gritstone’s investment activities and the team behind them
Since 2021, the investment firm has invested in 15 early-stage science and technology-enabled businesses in the North of England.
