Northcoders launches its first C# programme

Northcoders is launching a brand new Software Development in C# Skills Bootcamp that aims to help people who want to pursue a software development career, especially on Web APIs, enterprise applications or backend systems.

The 13-week course is the first time that Northcoders has run a C# focused programme. The team decided to launch it due to an increasing demand from companies that need junior developers who specialise in the language.

The programme can be learned in person at Northcoders’ Manchester or Leeds campuses, or it can be fully remote. This allows complete flexibility and it’s hoped it will enable as many people as possible, from as many backgrounds as possible, to learn.

Free scholarships, funded by the government as part of the Skills Bootcamp scheme, are available but there are certain criteria including: Being aged 19 or over on 31st August 2024, living in England and having the right to work in the UK. A free Skills Eligibility Checker can be accessed here.

The core aim of the Software Development in C# Skills Bootcamp is not just about learning to code, it’s also about acquiring all the developer skills needed to thrive in a dynamic job market. According to IT Jobs Watch, average salaries in the UK for Junior C# developers is £27,500, and they increase to £60,000 for C# developers, according to DevIT Jobs.

The full programme curriculum is available online, but it will include an Introduction Week where participants will learn C# basics, tools and IDEs, types, git version control, debugging, dependency management and break down problems; a Fundamentals Week which will include learning about Object Orientated Programming pillars; followed by four weeks dedicated to frontend and backend blocks; as well as a Project phase that will bring everything together and see the building of a full-stack app using agile practices.

Students on the C# programme will also benefit from seven specialist career sessions that are led by Northcoders’ career development experts. These are designed to help hone interview skills, identify potential roles and develop portfolios. Day-to-day tutor support will also be offered.

Neil Hughes, head of C# at Northcoders – said: “We are always looking to adapt and launch new programmes that are based on what industry needs. The Software Development in C# Skills Bootcamp is an exciting step and I am confident that it will help to create some highly talented and specialised developers who will be able to add value to employers, and also empower them to pursue careers in tech.”
