North West rules as Blackpool and Salford shows dominate ‘Super Saturday’ ITV viewing figures

The North West was on top telly form at the weekend as shows filmed in Salford and Blackpool contributed to ITV’s biggest overnight audience of the year so far

Britain’s Got Talent, which for its 18th series has filmed all auditions at Blackpool’s Winter Gardens, and dock10-shot The 1% Club made up to thirds of a Saturday night treble for the broadcaster, with England’s narrow victory over Scotland the England v Scotland rugby clash at Twickenham also making an appearance for the South in the night’s impressive viewing figures.

ITV’s Super Saturday brought the channel its biggest average overnight audience of the year, the biggest entertainment show of the year on any channel (based on overnight data) and the biggest peak audience of the night on any channel.

The launch episode of series 18 of Britain’s Got Talent, sponsored by Tesco Clubcard, peaked at 5.5 million viewers/42% share and averaged 4.6 million viewers/34% share across the show. It was also the biggest entertainment show of the year on any channel, based on overnight data, and these figures will continue to grow with further viewing on ITVX.

ITV also scored the biggest peak audience of the night on any channel, with its coverage of England v Scotland in the Six Nations, sponsored by Motorway, recording an audience peak of 5.8 million viewers/39% share watching the coverage.

Overnight ratings for The 1% Club, sponsored by TrustATrader, also continue to rise, with an average of 4 million viewers across the show/a 34% share of viewing, with an audience peak of 4.4million viewers, based on overnights.

Britain’s Got Talent and The 1% Club were the most watched shows of the day for 16-34 year olds, securing a massive 47% and 44% share of audience in this demographic.
