North West agency tunes into David Bowie Stylophone with PR launch

David Bowie Stylophone - Pelican Communications

Manchester-based Pelican communications has worked on the European and North American PR launch campaign to promote a limited-edition David Bowie stylophone.

The firm has collaborated with The David Bowie Archive and Dubreq, the British firm that produces the instrument, to commemorate Bowie’s association with the mini synthesizer which featured on his single Space Oddity.

US record producer Tony Visconti, who worked with Bowie on his second album which featured Space Oddity, recalled how the singer was one of the first to be selected by the makers of the Stylophone to receive a unit.

Visconti said: “For many years to come Bowie and Stylophone were names that were matched in the same breath. He would be very proud of this new incarnation named after him.”

Pelican MD Michael Bennett added: “This is a bit of a departure from our usual sustainability and environmental PR work, but it’s been great fun to be involved with such a great initiative to promote the legacy of an iconic artist to a new generation of musicians.”
