BBC iPlayer enjoyed its biggest month ever in May.
Figures just out reveal that there were 570 million requests to stream programmes on the catch-up service last month, up from 564m in April, which was the previous best month on record, and up 72% on the same month last year.
The most popular single programme was the fourth episode of series three of Killing Eve, with 4m requests, but eight of the top 10 most popular programmes were episodes of hit drama Normal People.
Other strong performers in May included the new series of family drama The A Word, one-off special Charlie Brooker’s Antiviral Wipe and returning entertainment series The Great British Sewing Bee and Glow Up.
Dan McGolpin, controller of BBC iPlayer, said: “Before the lockdown period began and all the way through it, iPlayer has been providing a unique mix of entertaining, informative and educational television whenever and wherever people want it.”
