Sky Documentaries has commissioned a new documentary about Manchester’s Ricky “The Hitman” Hatton.
The film, made by Noah Media Group, seeks to paint a “definitive portrait” of Hatton and his rise from the Hattersley estate near Manchester to headlining on the strip in Las Vegas.
The crew gets full access to Hatton and unseen archive footage from his rise to the pinnacle of boxing. It will also document how defeat led him to “depression, addiction and shame.”
Ricky Hatton (working title) is directed by Dan Dewsbury and is described as a “raw and compelling” film it will also show how he hit rock bottom and an attempted suicide.
“[The] documentary showcases this cautionary tale and inspirational story of a man forced to navigate a path through fragile relationships and broken dreams as he attempts to make sense of a life that appeared destined for a happy ending.”
It’s slated for transmission in September.
