No Time To Die’s Rory Kinnear is to star in a Netflix film inspired by “Burnley banker” Dave Fishwick.

Bank of Dave is described as a romantic comedy, and has been written by Piers Ashworth and will be directed by Chris Foggin (Fisherman’s Friends).

Starring alongside Kinnear are Game of Thrones’ Joel Fry and Phoebe Dynevor from Bridgerton.

Dave Fishwick became a UK star after his “little Burnley bank” was filmed for a Channel 4 series. The self-made millionaire established Burnley Savings and Loans (the Bank of Dave) 10 years ago to help local businesses.

He’s since lent nearly £30m and says there’s a 3 year waiting list to open a savings account.

The film will tell his story and how he built his fortune from a Lancashire minibus business, and then had to fight the establishment to get the first banking license for more than a century.

Kinnear will take on the role of Fishwick,

“To have a global movie made in Burnley about such an important part of my life, is truly amazing. I was overwhelmed when I was approached with the idea and it’s incredibly exciting to see the production starting soon,” said Fishwick.

Netflix has acquired the UK and Irish rights and WME Independent will handle the worldwide sales.

Production is set to start shortly.
