Former Culture Secretary Nadine Dorries has still, so far, failed make any mention of her earnings from her weekly TalkTV show on the Commons Register of Financial Interests, over four months after she landed the gig.
The Liverpool-born MP-turned-aspiring-TV-star, who is still the sitting MP for Mid-Bedfordshire, first appeared as a host on the Murdoch-owned channel last October as a temporary fill-in for Piers Morgan – an appearance which has also so far not warranted a mention on the register.
Morgan’s salary is rumoured to be around £15m a year for his TalkTV show and Sun column.
Dorries landed her own regular Friday night slot in January – breaking the Ministerial Code in the process – and hit the air on the first Friday in February with special guest Boris Johnson (who else?)
Left-leaning red top The Mirror first raised the issue of her apparent forgetfulness regarding the requirement for her to register earnings outside her role as an MP within 28 days, back on March 8. At the time Dorries stated she had not yet been paid, and graciously thanked the paper for “reminding me to chase.”
According to an update from The New Statesman today (June 2), however, a month later the register still displays a distinct deficiency of Dorries dough details.
We’re sure the forgetful former culture chief will be glad of the fresh reminder.
