Rafael Orta has left Tesco to join Chester-headquartered Moneysupermarket Group in the newly created role of chief product officer.
Orta, who was previously director of online partnerships at Tesco, will oversee development and enhancement of the customer experience across the group’s brands: MoneySuperMarket, MoneySavingExpert and TravelSupermarket.
A computer engineer from Universidad Simon Bolivar (Caracas), Venezuelan Orta also holds a marketing degree from IESA (Caracas) and an MBA from INSEAD, and his previous experience includes 10 years at eBay in product management, operations and marketing roles in Europe and globally.
At Tesco, he was responsible for various digital businesses, including Marketplace, Dropship, Media Sales and Clubcard Partnerships.
Mark Lewis, chief executive of Moneysupermarket Group, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Rafael to MoneySupermarket. He will play a key role, along with the rest of the executive team, in delivering our Reinvent strategy, which is focused on helping people save more money across more household bills.
“A key part of the strategy involves us investing in our product engineering capabilities and bringing greater innovation to our customer experience. Rafael brings with him a strong track record in delivering great outcomes for customers and I look forward to working with him as we make it easier for people to switch and save across our broad range of products.”
